Biography

Matthews is an experienced lawyer who has worked as an Attorney before joining the Bar. He has worked for Legal Resources Centre both as a Candidate Attorney and an Attorney. From June 1999 to May 2001 as a Candidate Attorney from August 2001 to January 2003 as an Attorney and thereafter he joined the Pretoria Bar as a Pupil. He had a short stint between June 2001 to July 2001 as an Assessor at the Refugee Appeal Board. During 2003 until 2005 he was a tutor/lecture at the Practical Legal Training School of the then Law Society of the Northern Provinces tutoring Constitutional Practice. He appears in High Courts, including Labour Courts, Land Claims Court, Equality Courts and the Supreme Court of Appeal. His practice mainly focuses on Administrative and Regulatory law, mostly Judicial Reviews and challenges to State tenders, Immigration laws, Human Rights and Constitutional law.
